guy on the grill was super quick and nice. some of the best quality/freshest chicken i've had and the salad was small but fresh as well--finally some fresh tomatos (some trucks got the nastiest tomatos). got the tikka masala over rice not any spice rlly but the flavor is yummy. next time i'll check out just their chicken over rice bc curious to compare with other trucks. they got the option of yellow or pulao rice which is always a treat. great truck.

Their stellar ratings are well deserved. As a native New Yorker who's gone through the craze of Midtown's legendary chicken and rice carts , I'm grateful to have Tariq's in this part of the neighborhood. Tariq's Food Cart IS legendary in Gramercy Park without the lengthy wait times. The chicken and rice platter is $8 and you'll get quality, fresh ingredients made to order. The chicken is always tender and so perfectly seasoned I crave this dish all the time! Additionally, you can't beat the friendly smiles and amazing service from these guys.

Tariq's 1 Halal Food cart is parked on Park Avenue South and serves up a variety of Indian-influenced rice platters, salads, and sandwiches. stopped here a few weeks ago and picked up a chicken over rice. watched as the owner / grill man made my order. steam rising off the fluffy rice as it dropped into the container. the sizzle and aroma of chicken and spices is a sensory delight. and a small heap of lettuce tomato salad on the side stuffed into the side. and ample amount of white sauce on top. got this as a late lunch and was really satisfied with the quality and how filling it was. the grill guy is friendly and knows what he's doing when it comes to these dishes.

Chicken and lamb plate was amazing. Chicken was cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful. Rice was soft and buttery. The lamb was seasoned very well. All the sauces complimented the seasonings very well. Highly recommend it.

First time here and not disappointed! Ordered ahead of time via Allset app. Food was ready by the time I arrived. Didn't know what sauces to try on top of the chicken biryani, asked the owner to recommend. No regrets at all! Portion is just right. Love the hard boiled egg as an addition to the dish!!

Why did I not discover this place earlier? There's always someone ordering food anytime I walk by so I had to try it. The prices are reasonable. Got a chicken tikka salad and a chicken biryani. I love that they have a salad option. Chicken biryani - the chicken is SO flavorful and well done. I love the onion pieces (at least that's what I think it is) that are sprinkled on top. Gives a nice crunch and additional pop of flavor to each bite. Comes with a small salad with corn and chickpeas. And finally, that whole egg! Love that it comes with an egg because not every place gives you that. All that for $6.50. Chicken tikka salad - LOVED the taste of the chicken for this dish. It has a more woodsy, aromatic taste and scent to this versus the biryani. SO good. It was already a generous portion of chicken but I wish I had more! Really enjoyed this dish and the white sauce just blends so well with everything. Comes with the same salad, corn and chickpeas for $6.50. Both were great dishes; my husband loved it. I would definitely get these again and come back to try other platters.

Best halal food in town. Get Chicken Biryani - it comes with chicken tikka, a boiled egg, chickpeas, salad, and grab the hot sauce (ITS SO GOOD). Lines are long during lunch time.

i like this cart, he has such a variety of food for a food cart. He tries to get to know everyone and usually is pretty good at remembering peoples faces.. This Halar cart is great, has 4-5 different sauces and plenty of food and great prices. From bryani to falafel sandwiches. the line forms and he sometimes runs out of food since he is going hollywood(documentary about his cart being filmed). Definetly one of my go to karts. ;)
